After 10 Years, Alfa Romeo's Crossover May Finally Arrive

The 2003 Kamal Concept might aid Italian nameplate's design.

At the 2003 Geneva Motor Show, Alpha Romeo debuted the Kamal Concept. In 2015, we may finally see a production version.

Can Alfa Romeo make a strong U.S. comeback? Some think the re-emergence of the iconic Italian brand is contingent on strong entries in burgeoning segments. For example, the crossover. Alfa's cousin Jeep, by way of parent Fiat, will push things along. The new Alfa vehicle, one of nine new models plotted over the next four years, will share underpinnings with the new Liberty—due for reveal at the 2013 New York Auto Show—but provide its own continental swagger.

Production will occur near Turin, Italy and the crossover will function as a global sell.

Expect to see a Alfa crossover in 2015, right after the 4C sports car and new Spider enter the fray.
