They don't call him the 'Green' Pope for nothing.

Renault/Nissan chairman Carlos Ghosn recently presented Pope Benedict XVI with a white, electric Renault Kangoo September 5 as well as a blue version of the ride to be used by the Vatican's police force. Featuring the Papal coat of arms on its doors, the Kangoo van has a 44 kilowatt electric motor and lithium-ion battery which allows it to travel about 105 miles without recharging. As the ride doesn't feature any of the standard security features, it's not officially a "Pope-mobile," and will be used exclusively in the gardens of the Pope's Castel Gandolfo summer residence. The Pope will continue to use his armoured Mercedes-Benz vehicles for public outings.
