As proof that the democratic system is not without flaw, we present city councilman Jesse James White (R, Riverbank, CA). He got drunk, crashed his Corvette while going several times the posted limit, and tried to flee the scene, leaving his bleeding four-year-old son in the car. He was "tackled and held by bystanders" as he tried to flee. Pure class right there.
This is the same man who was discovered to have not been registered to vote when he got elected, got arrested on drug charges in 2010. He says that people "shouldn't believe the hype" regarding his escapades and run for re-election.
It's looking like the Democrats have a pretty good shot at this council seat for the upcoming election.
