From Oscar De La Hoya versus Shane Mosley in 2000 to Lennox Lewis and Vitali Klitschko squaring off in 2003, the Staples Center has seen its fair share of great showdowns. Last night, there was a huge heavyweight battle that went down between Blake Griffin and Pau Gasol. In the opening round, Blake delivered a huge blow when he landed a powerful putback jam over the back of Gasol (peep that clip below). Then came the (literal) knockout punch. In the third quarter, BG got a free look at the basket on a pick-and-roll and for some reason, the Lakers forward felt the need to try and challenge Griffin when he was already cleared for takeoff. What happened next could only be described in one word: massacre. You know that somewhere, Kendrick Perkins is smiling...
