There are some sports records that are probably never going to be broken. But after hearing about what Mohammad El Akkari just did, we're gonna go out on a limb and say that Wilt Chamberlain's 100-point NBA game will be duplicated sometime in the future (you're right, Kobe!). Despite the fact that El Akkari averages just 7.2 points per game for Tripoli in the Lebanese Division A League, he absolutely went off during the league final against Bejjeh last night and finished with—are you ready for this?—113 points. Yep, 113.
So, how'd he do it? Well, not how you might think. Rather than working the paint, he went 32-for-59 from three-point range (damn, that's a lot of threes!), 8-for-10 from inside the line, and hit a single free throw. His team ended up winning the game 173-141 in a blowout. And lest you think this is some kind of late April Fool's Day prank, the game was sanctioned by FIBA. They have the news about it displayed proudly on the FIBA Asia web site.
What else can we say? 113 points sort of just speaks for itself.
