It's not shocking that Nike is the no.1 sneaker brand in the world, despite efforts by Skechers, adidas, and Under Armour. But how much the brand made in the fiscal year from 2014-2015 might surprise some people. In its official earnings announcement today, Nike made $30.6 billion, up 10 percent from last year.

There were several reasons on why Nike is making so much money. The brand pointed out its growth in digital in a conference call today, while noting the success of lifestyle models such as the Roshe Run and Air Max 1. There was also strong growth in basketball, but Nike CEO Mark Parker is looking towards a certain technology that's been able to assist the brand's success.

"Flyknit continues to be one of our biggest breakthroughs for the athlete and for our company," Parker said.

NPD analyst Matt Powell estimated that Nike sold somewhere around 350 million sneakers in the past year.

It's going to take a lot of Yeezys for adidas to catch up to where Nike is right now.
