23. They're Named After The President's Plane

Given the number of sneaker sequels that have dropped since, it's easy to just assume that the Air Force One was retroactively named for being the first Air Force sneaker. Not so. The initial 1982 release had "AIR FORCE I" lettering on the tongue, in homage to the President's plane. Hopefully someone at Nike sent Ronald Reagan a pair.
