J.R. Smith started off as one of the best prep prospects at wide receiver — not the two-spot. After transferring high schools his junior year, he decided to focus on hoops and it paid off, averaging 27 points, six rebounds, and five assists, as well as signing a letter of intent to UNC. However, after earning MVP honors at the McDonald's All-American Game, Smith decided to forgo the mundane cafeteria food of campus life and jump straight to the league. He kicked things off reppin' the Three Stripes for his first few seasons before jumping over and donning the Swoosh. The last couple of seasons J.R. was known for his creative iD cook-ups of the Kobe series as well as a few Jordan cameos on the courts. Right now he's playing in the CBA — the Chinese Basketball Association. We hope you get to see him ball in the states soon — until then, check our gallery of J.R. Smith's Greatest Sneaker Moments.
