Kendall Jenner on Kanye West's 'Very Creative Mind' and How He Inspires Her

Kendall Jenner also had kind words for Virgil Abloh, who she thinks will "kill it" at Louis Vuitton.

Of all the members of the Kardashian-Jenner Klan, Kendall Jenner is the quietest. Besides being the star of her family’s reality TV show since she was very young, she’s also an international supermodel (and, if Mike Will Made-It and Chief Keef have any say in it, soon to be a rapper, too) but manages to keep a lower profile than her sisters.

However, with Kendall's career and a brother-in-law like Kanye West, she’s (whether you like it or not) squarely in the center of today’s pop culture scene. In a new interview with French YouTube show Clique, she spoke about the intersection of the modeling world and the hip-hop world she's always somehow involved in. The interview is not available in the U.S.

« Mon but dans la vie, c’est d’être entourée de personnes créatives, pour que ça déteigne sur moi… »

When asked about her major creative inspirations, Kendall immediately mentioned Kanye West. “Kanye is not only is a creator in the fashion world, but he’s a creator in music, he’s a creator even in architecture, he goes as far as that,” Kendall said. “He’s a very creative mind.”

She also said she’s influenced by her friends, who are “all super creative.”

“I look up to them every single day,” she said. “That’s my goal in life, to surround myself with really creative people. I just want it to rub off on me!”

Kendall also had kind words for Virgil Abloh, who was recently named the new men’s wear designer at Louis Vuitton. She listed him among her creative inspirations, but also as a major player in the current moment of fashion that mixes lowbrow with highbrow and “[brings] different cultures and styles together in a cool way.” For her, Virgil represents the “perfect mixture” of “a more casual really cool girl or guy style and bringing that into something really high fashion.”

“I think he’s gonna kill it [at Louis Vuitton],” she added.

Earlier today, Kanye West himself weighed in on Virgil’s new role at the French fashion house.
