In case you haven’t heard, Chris Brown and Nick Cannon have teamed up to produce an indie film about, wait for it… a women’s basketball team in Inglewood. As Variety reported, Cannon will direct, write, produce and star with Brown in She Ball. I’ll hold my snark for the sake of journalistic integrity, but you can imagine the smoke coming out my ears as I write this.
ANYWAY, Nick isn’t holding back about the shade he’s getting on Twitter for attaching Brown to the film. When it comes to dudes with sordid pasts–which in Brown’s case means a history of domestic violence–Nick was quick to suggest that the public is harder on black men than white ones. When a TMZ reporter approached Nick at LAX to talk about Brown’s social media haters, Cannon clapped back, “What about Sean Pean? They ever hate on his past and the movies he did.”
Touché, Nick. To be fair, I don’t see anyone burning their Miramax DVDs either. Except, there’s one critical difference here: Brown was convicted of felony assault for beating up Rihanna, whereas Madonna denied the allegations that then-husband Penn abused her in the '80s. Were not saying Cannon doesn’t have a point, though.
He also told TMZ that She Ball, which also stars Cedric the Entertainer, Rebecca De Mornay, and Evan Ross, is going to be great. Cannon also shouted out his ex-wife, Mariah Carey on a formidable New Year’s Eve performance. As of yet, She Ball does not have a release date.
