Tyrese has had a tough couple of months. He’s made headlines for somewhat bizarre behavior recently, like bad mouthing Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson over his role in the Fast and Furious franchise and his spin-off movie. Tyrese even went as far as to blame The Rock for his money and family troubles in a fiery Instagram post. And Tyrese was clearly going through it with his family: He’s currently in a lengthy legal battle with his ex-wife Norma Gibson for custody of their daughter, Shayla. Tyrese even recorded an emotional video pleading to see his daughter again, since a restraining order has kept him from seeing her for two months.

Just last night, Tyrese took to Instagram once again to provide an explanation and a public apology for his behavior in the last few months. In a very long post, explains that he’s been taking medication to help with the stress and anxiety that his current situation is causing alongside a photo of what he was taking. The meds had an adverse affect and that is why he had a “complete meltdown online.” He claims to be all better now and off the meds, and is very apologetic to the people he hurt during this period.

“I want you guys to know that to this day I don’t drink, smoke or on any level do I do drugs,” he wrote on Instagram. “Because of this high stress and very traumatic experience I was… connected with multiple therapist[s] and psychiatrist[s]… and these were the psych drugs that was suggested and this is the reason I had a complete meltdown online.”

“This sh-t is completely out of my system,” he continued. “I’m already back at 100%—please don’t chalk this up as ‘oversharing’ a lot of people were effected by what these psych meds did to me over these last 2 months and this is my public apology I’m so very sorry guys.”

He is also certain that opening up in this way will not hurt his ongoing court case with his ex-wife. He also mentions the risks of letting others suggest psychiatric medication, presumably without the proper medical advice and accompaniment.

“This will NOT compromise my case…. This is transparency and honesty and more of a heads up,” he wrote. “Don’t let folks suggest drugs especially psychiatric meds we all you need is to be still and and preset in the Lord and he will deal with your fights and reality. Praying for you guys……..”

Hopefully things settle down soon for Tyrese.
