Do you like Cottonmouth's Notorious B.I.G. poster? He really hopes you do. In fact, this fresh look at Netflix's take on Luke Cage shows that Cottonmouth (Mahershala Ali) cares very much what you and your friends think of his Biggie image selection abilities. "Everybody wants to be the king," he says, breaking the fourth wall Mr. Robot style. Very true, Cottonmouth. Very true.
The latest peek at the hella anticipated Marvel series shows that writer Cheo Hodari Coker, director Paul McGuigan, and the rest of the show's team certainly have visual mastery on the brain. The clip perfectly captures the Godfather-esque vibes of Cornell "Cottonmouth" Stokes, with Coker hinting to Entertainment Weekly earlier this year that Luke Cage is essentially Marvel television's version of The Wire.
"We have a lot of different musical appearances, but at the same time, we've got the Marvel action," Coker toldEW back in April. "We've got drama. I would like this to be, I mean, I know this is heavy but, The Wire of Marvel television, because we really deal with a lot of different issues."
Luke Cage isn't due to arrive in your Netflix queue for another couple weeks, so we should probably expect Netflix to continue teasing us in the days ahead. The series also stars Mike Colter as Luke Cage, Alfre Woodard as Mariah Dillard, Simone Missick as Misty Knight, and Theo Rossi as "Shades" Alvarez.
