The cast for Spider-Man: Homecoming is stacked. Not only did Tom Holland totally prove he’s perfect for Spidey in his cameo in Civil War, but joining him are the like of Zendaya, Michael Keaton, Donald Glover, Marrisa Tomei, Martin Starr and Hannibal Buress. And now another exciting name has been added: Abraham Attah.

You might not know Attah by name, but that’s ok, because he only has one acting credit so far. He was the lead in Netflix’s excellent Idris-Elba starring child soldier drama Beasts of No Nation. If you’ve not seen that yet (and you totally should), 14 year old Attah is incredible in it, and he has a big career ahead of him. So it’s dope to see him in Spider-Man.

So far there’s no official word on who he could be playing, but there’s one character that’s jumping to fans minds: Miles Morales.

Miles is the younger American-American/ Latino Spider-Man introduced in 2011. I’ve written about why Miles is such a great character before, but Miles has become a true fan-favourite, and there we calls for him to replace Peter Parker before Tom Holland was cast in the role.

He currently has his own comic alongside Peter Parker.

And he has inspired fan-films.

And been in cartoons (voiced by Childish Gambino).

While Attah is Ghanain, (as opposed to Miles’ mixed heritage), he would be great casting. Part of what makes Miles so great is that he’s both a young kid that looks up to Peter Parker, and also draws Spider-Man back to his teenage roots. And 14 year old Attah would fit that perfectly.
