"Nothing will stand in our way," Star Wars's Kylo Ren says in a trailer for the film. And he's right. Considering how many tickets it sold even before it made its way to theaters, it's no surprise that Star Wars: The Force Awakens had the biggest box office opening weekend of all time. In North America alone it grossed $238 million.
Before Star Wars, Jurassic World, which was also released this year, held the record. In its opening weekend the dinosaur film made $208.8 million dollars domestically.
Domestically and internationally Star Wars brought in a whopping $517 million. That's more than half a billion dollars in just one weekend.
