UFO spotted over Darwin has experts stumped

Is this footage captured in the Northern Territory a sign of alien life?

In a possible close encounter of the third kind, a bright light snapped over Darwin has experts lost for an explanation. The video, despite being taken in the light of day, shows a bizarre, luminescent flat shape drifting slowly through the skyline.

Quentin Theron of Coconut Grove took the footage when his two children alerted him to a “shooting star” as they played outside in the pool at about 6PM on Monday. The presence of a thick and short tail, rules out its identification as a meteorite. There was some speculation that it could simply be “space junk” re-entering the atmosphere, but astronomer Geoff Car debunked this, explaining it was moving too slow.

Carr, an astronomer for more than 20 years, still seems stumped by the unidentified flying object, however. “I can only suggest a high altitude military jet with its afterburner on,” he said. He added that it had the potential to be an Iridium Flare, a phenomenon caused by reflective surfaces on satellites. While it’s likely nothing, in a worst case scenario, we should perhaps all be prepared to welcome our new alien overlords at any moment.
