Late next month Marvel's latest foray into television—the Krysten Ritter-starring Jessica Jones—is unleashed in full via Netflix. Truth be told, I thought it was an interesting decision for their next property; while Jessica Jones has been a fixture throughout the Marvel scene, including being a part of multiple eras of The Avengers, she's rarely been a focal point of the Marvel Universe, although she has starred in two series: Alias and The Pulse.

Maybe that's why Marvel decided to unleash a free Jessica Jones prequel comic ahead of the release of the Netflix program. What's dope is that the team behind Alias (writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Michael Gaydos) revisited the character they made shine on Marvel's MAX imprint and brought her to the modern Marvel age.

For those who might not be up on Jessica Jones (the character) and want to bone up before Jessica Jones starts, this would be the perfect outlet. Word is the story involves Jones tracking down a criminal that Daredevil jacked up, and should be a dope way to establish Marvel's Hell's Kitchen squad (which also includes Luke Cage and Iron Fist).

You can snag this prequel for free today, and for those who missed it, here's the latest teaser from Jessica Jones:
