Idris Elba Might and Should Be the Next 'Star Trek' Villain

An awesome casting rumor.

While we wait for Idris Elba to fulfill his destiny and become the next James Bond, we have to settle for other awesome casting rumors involving the British badass. Variety reports Elba is in talks to play the villain in Star Trek 3. Details of his potential role and the plot at large have been kept under wraps, but rumor has it the Klingons will finally get to shine and be the main adversaries in the threequel.

Rumors previously pegged Bryan Cranston as the desired villain for Star Trek 3, but those seem to have fizzled out. Normally that would be as deflating as Walter White's 51st birthday, but we're talking about Idris fucking Elba here. It's news like this that makes us forget all about the troubles that initially plagued Star Trek 3 after J.J. Abrams' departure.

We can expect to officially find out who lands the job soon. Filming will reportedly begin in April, and the flick is set for a July 8, 2016 release.
