The biggest question I have encountered is "Should I use a broker?" My answer is this: In short, YES, you should use a rental broker, but you should also do research and search on your own as well. Why do both? Brokers have access to apartments that without them you will never, ever be able to rent in. Many of them have exclusives or sometimes a rental building requires you to have a broker to rent with them. I am also a huge advocate of the no-fee landlords who directly give their availabilities to the public. We list both broker and no-fee listings on my rental ratings website Rentenna.com because renters in this insanely difficult rental season should have access to both, and choose accordingly.
Not utilizing a broker in a tight market.
