25. Sid Jenkins and Michelle Richardson on Skins
Played By: Mike Bailey and April Pearson
Michelle is in love with Tony. Tony and Sid are best friends. Sid is in love with Michelle. Michelle and Cassie are best friends. Cassie loves Sid. Cassie and Sid begin dating. Michelle finds out that Tony has been a manipulative cheater and breaks up with him. Michelle finally gives Sid a chance and the two characters start fucking. If you can keep up, in no way are Michelle's feelings for Sid as genuine as her feelings for Tony or Cassie's feelings for Sid, and that's what causes this couple to make your skin boil.
24. Zack Morris and Stacey Carosi on Saved by the Bell
Played By: Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Leah Remini
What was Zack thinking? In no way is dating your boss' daughter a good idea, especially when you have Kelly Kapowski working at the same beach club as you. We get it, summer usually means a summer fling, but we just wanted to shake him and yell out, "Quit fighting fate, Zack!"
23. Manny Santos and Spinner Mason on Degrassi: The Next Generation
Played By: Cassie Steele and Shane Kippel
Seriously, did the producers decide to write in this relationship because they stumbled upon some fan fiction? Not only was the coupledom between Manny and Spinner, dubbed by Degrassi fanatics as "Spanny," short-lived, but it just plain random! Season four brings Manny and Spinner together, after she is done being the other woman in Craig and Ashley's relationship and he breaks up with Paige. Ultimately, the relationship is nipped in the bud when Manny finds out Spinner's true involvement in the school shooting that left Rick dead and Jimmy in a wheelchair.
22. Seth Cohen and Anna Stern on The O.C.
Played By: Adam Brody and Samaire Armstrong
Seth wouldn't be Seth without Anna. She essentially gave him a spine, and they connected on every level of dorkiness there is. Plus, she's the cute pixie dream girl you'd assume a guy like him would end up with. But the fact of the matter is: Anna is not Summer. And anyone who gets in the way of Seth and Summer is simply not tolerated.
21. Lucas Scott and Brooke Davis on One Tree Hill
Played By: Chad Michael Murray and Sophia Bush
Before the love triangle between Lucas, Peyton and Brooke became a tough call—i.e. Brooke actually became an endearing character—fans who shipped Lucas and Peyton were enraged at the idea of her best friend swooping in for her man. And it's not like Brooke tried to make it easy on the audience to like her—she hid in Lucas' car and stripped down just to get his attention.
20. David Silver and Donna Martin on Beverly Hills, 90210
Played By: Brian Austin Green and Tori Spelling
The two characters begin the series dating in high school with David respecting Donna's decision to sustain from sex until marriage. The couple then break up after learning that David slept with someone, and their characters follow up the next few seasons with a strand of psychos, ending the seventh season with Donna finally losing her virginity to none other than David. Anyone could have predicted that David and Donna end up married by the series finale. And maybe we wouldn't have stopped caring about the couple if they were actually likeable.
19. A.C. Slater and Jessie Spano on Saved by the Bell
Played By: Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkley
They say opposites attract, and we don't think any couple was as polar opposite as Slater and Jessie. It wasn't that the outspoken brainiac feminist and the meathead jock didn't make any sense, it's that they didn't have enough chemistry to make sense. Not to mention, Slater spent most of the earlier seasons fighting Zack for Kelly's attention. We think we can all agree with Jessie when she calls Slater a "sexist pig" and scolds him for calling her "Mama."
18. George Michael Bluth and Ann Veal on Arrested Development
Played By: Michael Cera and Mae Whitman
Michael Bluth's hatred towards George Michael's first girlfriend Ann sets up the fury towards the awkward teenagers. For Michael, the last straw was the couple's pre-engagement, which he forced them to cancel, thus breaking them up once and for all. In the spirit of being odd, George Michael's forbidden crush on his cousin Maeby just proves that no one outside of the family could ever understand how hilariously fucked up the Bluths really are.
17. Dionne "Dee" Davenport and Murray on Clueless
Played By: Stacey Dash and Donald Faison
The constant bickering between Dionne and Murray started in the film, and the battle continued on the small screen version of Clueless. Why would a couple who cannot stand each other's very existence be any bit persuasive in convincing the audience to root for them? In the words of Brick Tamland...
16. Damon and Bonnie on The Vampire Diaries
Played By: Ian Somerhalder and Kat Graham
Damon and Bonnie have the type of relationship dynamic that could be found on a playground. Damon uses the childish tactics of being mean to girls he actually likes to get their attention—think throwing dirt at a girl in order to get her to look in your direction. Elena herself sees through this couple saying, "He doesn't hate her. I think he actually kind of loves her. You're mean to the people you care about." Can we leave these flirting tactics at recess, kids? And get Damon with Elena while we're at it?
15. Eric Foreman and Donna Pinciotti on That '70s Show
Played By: Topher Grace and Laura Prepon
Although the intention was for these friends-turned-lovers to have the same dynamic as Cory and Topanga, in actuality, Eric and Donna were just so damn boring. We're not sure if it was their disproportional body types that didn't feel right, or Eric's blah personality that didn't mix well with Donna's strong will, but something about this couple has us asking, "What were they smoking?"
14. Finn Hudson and Quinn Fabray on Glee
Played By: Cory Monteith and Dianna Agron
Finn and Quinn were Glee's archetypal quarterback/head cheerleader combo, with a dopey twist. He was a clueless Frankenteen and she was the former president of the celibacy club-turned-teen mom who pretended to be carrying his baby (it turned out to be his best friend's kid), despite never having sex with him.
13. James Cook and Effy Stonem on Skins
Played By: Jack O'Connell and Kaya Scodelario
Admittedly, Cook and Effy's passion was like a barrel of gas set on fire. Everything they did, they did hard—drugs, sex, drinking, dancing, fighting. Yet what made every other viewer want to tear them apart was the fact that Freddie, Stonem's ultimate true love, was waiting in the wings. While Cook was her poison, Freddie was her redemption.
12. Dylan Mckay and Brenda Walsh on Beverly Hills, 90210
Played By: Luke Perry and Shannen Doherty
It could have very well been Doherty's real life tension with 90210 creator's daughter Tori Spelling that made Brenda unlikeable enough to get kicked off the prime-time soap opera after its fourth season, but it was mostly her rookie mistakes when moving to Beverly Hills that caused her character to simply become an obstacle in getting Dylan and Kelly together. C'mon, Brenda even went as far to dye her hair blonde because she heard Dylan preferred blondes. Desperate much?
11. Blair Waldorf and Dan Humphrey on Gossip Girl
Played By: Leighton Meester and Penn Badgley
Even though they started off as frenemies whose only common ground was their separate relationship with Serena, the two characters developed a friendship amongst themselves as the seasons progressed. By season four, the storyline takes a romantic turn when both Queen B and Lonely Boy find themselves single and the only ones in the city. In his hopeless romantic style, Dan shows up at Blair's apartment on Valentine's Day to suggest they kiss to see if they actually have feelings for one another. They do, and they date—pissing off "Chair" and "Derena" fans everywhere.
And come on, any guy who would date his ex's best friend is just begging to be hated on.
10. Peyton Sawyer and Nathan Scott on One Tree Hill
Played By: Hilarie Burton and James Lafferty
Peyton was into classic cars, leather jackets, screamo bands, and doodling emo portraits. Nathan was the captain of the basketball team and into partying with his bros, capitalizing on his dad's wealth and flirting with his groupies. And the award for least believable couple goes to...
9. Lauren Conrad and Jason Wahler on Laguna Beach
When Lauren showed up on season two of Laguna Beach, many thought she was back to pour more fuel into the love triangle fire between Stephen and Cavallari. However, by senior year, Kristin was so dunzo with Stephen, and the couple to hate undoubtedly became Jason and Jessica. Simply watching Jason interact with Jessica became a guilty pleasure because of how easily she let him get away with being a complete dick.
Fast forward to the end of the season, when everyone's favorite Laguna alum Lauren invites Jason to her summer kick-off party, and watch the nice girl fall for the bad boy. The relationship between Lauren and Jason unraveled to be just as dramatic as his last relationship, which, well, duh.
8. Ryan Atwood and Lindsay Gardner on The O.C.
Played By: Ben McKenzie and Shannon Lucio
Ask anyone who their least favorite couple on The O.C. and nine times out of 10 they'll mention Ryan and Lindsay, the ex-delinquent with a bowl cut and the boring illegitimate daughter of the Caleb Nichol. Lezbehonest, the pair was simply a filler for season two, something to keep Ryan occupied while Marissa went through her lesbian phase.
7. Kristin Cavallari and Stephen Colletti on Laguna Beach
The tone of Kristen's voice when she says "STEPHENNNN" alone is enough to make this couple the personification of nails on a chalkboard. It didn't help that producers set up the love triangle in Laguna Beach so that the audience would root for Lauren "LC" Conrad and her childhood crush Colletti, and consequently pray for the demise of his relationship with Kristin.
6. Dawson Leery and Jen Lindley on Dawson's Creek
Played By: James Van Der Beek and Michelle Williams
OK, so everyone Dawson dated instantly landed on our shitlist, not because of envy, but because of the fact that Dawson Leery was arguably one of those most annoying characters in the history of teen television. Former "city girl" Jen Lindley just happened to bring out the most obnoxious in him—the first time in season one, when he called his then-girlfriend a "slut" in a jealous rage, and the second time in season five, when he became a sick, clingy puppy after losing his virginity to her.
5. Cory Matthews and Lauren on Boy Meets World
Played By: Ben Savage and Linda Cardellini
Anyone who comes between Cory and Topanga gets an automatic red card. Especially Lauren, who knew that Cory had a girlfriend and still went in for the kiss at the ski lounge. Not to mention, she followed him back to Philadelphia like a certified stalker, whose only character purpose was to destroy the masterpiece that was Cory and Topanga.
4. Rory Gilmore and Logan Huntzberger on Gilmore Girls
Played By: Alexis Bledel and Matt Czuchry
Before Yale, Rory was the quirky girl next door with her heart torn between the tall, dark and handsome Dean and the broken bad boy, Jess, which made for an entertaining love triangle to watch. During Yale, the aspiring reporter lost that spark and instead got involved with a smug, incredibly vanilla newspaper magnate's son whose chemistry with her wasn't quite the His Girl Friday-type producers were going for.
3. Dan Humphrey and Georgina Sparks on Gossip Girl
Played By: Penn Badgley and Michelle Trachtenberg
Sleeping with the enemy is an automatic loss, which is what lands Dan's tryst with Georgina high on the list. Yeah, Dan, go ahead, sleep with the girl who basically ruined the reputation of the love of your life, Serena, and throw in a pregnancy scare while you're at it.
2. Peter Stone and Darcy Edwards on Degrassi: The Next Generation
Played By: Jamie Johnston and Shenae Grimes
Peter and Darcy were annoying for one sufficient reason: It's difficult to take a liking to a guy, let alone a spoiled rich one, who sells risque photos of you and your friend to perverts on the Internet, which not only ends up humiliating you, but lands you a stalker in the process.
1. Marissa Cooper and Kevin Volchok on The O.C.
Played By: Mischa Barton and Cam Gigandet
This one's easy to rationalize, isn't it? Not only did the tempestuous bad boy lure Marissa away from her friends, but he also turned her into a mild sex addict, cheated on her, and tried to frame her ex-boyfriend for robbery. Oh yeah, and there's that minor detail that he fucking ran her off the road, killing the show along with her.
