"Storage Wars" Sued by Cast Member Who Alleges Show Is Fake

Reality television isn't known for actually being real, but apparently Storage Wars star Dave Hester is mad that his show is being marketed as such because he's suing producers of the series and its network, A&E, under allegations at the show is a "fraud on the public." According to Deadline, Hester is seeking more than $3.75 million in damages and fees from the network, and he's accusing producers of orchestrating everything in the series, even a cast member's plastic surgery.

From the 14-page complaint:

"Nearly every aspect of the Series is faked, even down to the plastic surgery that one of the female cast members underwent in order to create more "sex appeal" for the show, the cost of which was paid for by Original...Original regularly "salts" the storage lockers that are the subject of the auctions portrayed on the Series with valuable or unusual items to add dramatic effect, even going so far as to stage entire storage units. Original also manipulates the outcome of certain auctions by paying for storage units on behalf of the weaker cast members who lack the both the skill and financial wherewithal to place winning bids."

The complaint also alleges that when Hester complained to producers about the staging of events and informed them it was possibly illegal, producers fired him from the show. He is seeking a jury trial.
