The advent of social media has made it nearly impossible for movie studios to keep a lid on their upcoming projects, but for film buffs everywhere, the non-stop stream of information is always welcome. Case in point, according to Coming Soon, actor Frank Grillo took to his Twitter recently to tell the world that he had a meeting with Marvel and followed the tweet up with #captainamerica. Those tweets have since been deleted.

Then, the Twitter for California’s Matthew Aaron Show claimed that Grillo was up for the part of the villain, Crossbones, in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Obviously none of this is confirmed yet, but if the movie is taking its inspiration from the “Winter Soldier” storyline, then this would make sense considering how big of a role the character played in it. In the comics, Crossbones was a hired assassin for the Red Skull that became the eventual killer of Captain America. We doubt Cap will get killed in the movie, but we're sure some aspects of the storyline will stay intact.

We’ll be sure to report on any more information as it becomes official. Captain America: The Winter Soldier will hit theaters on April 4, 2014.
