The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is still 6 months away, but Internet buzz is already claiming that Bethesda’s gorgeous RPG could take Game of the Year honors. While it is too early for us to make such a bold prediction—especially in a year with as many high-profile releases as this—the game does feature several improvements over Oblivion, including a revamped combat system that makes the action feel more visceral. Unlike most RPGs, you don’t get locked into a character archtype during character creation. Instead, if you want to be better at archery, shoot a bow. If you want to be better at magic, cast spells. We like it; sometimes it’s the simple solutions that are the most elegant. Skyrim is scheduled for release on November 11 for all platforms. Until then, feast your eyes on some new screenies.
