J Balvin’s New Album ‘Vibras’ Is Here

'Vibras' is J Balvin's fifth studio album.

J Balvin, of “Mi Gente” fame, has released his fifth studio album Friday titled Vibras (that's "vibes" in Spanish for those not in the know). The Colombian artist will keep his mission to globalize reggaeton going with a previously announced North American tour, kicking off in September.

In an interview with Ebro Darden for Beats 1 Radio on Apple Music back in April, Balvin described the sound of Vibras as 33 percent dancehall, 33 percent R&B, and 33 percent reggaeton.

“It’s different, it’s taking it back to the old school,” he said about the album’s title track.

“We did it with so much love that it’s all about the vibes, that’s why the album is called Vibes,” he said back then. “The real meaning of this album was what’s going on with Spanish music that’s going so global, the fact that we did an album that the beats are so amazing that you don’t have to understand what we say, you just have to love the songs.”

Earlier this month, J Balvin announced the Vibras Tour, which will kick off Sept. 19 in Fresno, California and make its way across North America with stops in Los Angeles, New York, Miami, Chicago, Las Vegas, Houston, and more. Check out the dates below.
