Expectations for Rae Sremmurd’s epic three-disc album SR3MMLife 3 are high, and now even greater as the duo have dropped off their collaborative song “Close,” featuring Travis Scott.

Speaking with Zane Lowe, Slim Jxmmi described the song as something that’s giving him “an 80s vibe.” He continued, “It is the year of the year. It's really the year of the year. We are coming through with mad hits. 30 Roc, he been going dumb for a long time, Mike Will [Made-It] been going dumb for a long time. Ear Drummers is just like crazy.”

The song becomes a familiar cast of characters, where all three showcase their trademarks—Scott's auto-tuned vocals, Swae Lee's melodies, Jxmmi's punchy flow, and Rae Sremmurd's memorable ad-libs—over a pared-down, serene beat.

Jxmmi also confirmed that a “Close” video is on the way.

“Close” is just one of a handful of singles that Swae and Jxmmi have released since the top of the year, the latest of which was Swae’s song “Guatemala” and Jxmmi's Pharrell-assisted track “Chanel.” The long-awaited album—which will include the rappers’ solo LPs as well as a joint album—still doesn’t have an official release date; however, Jxmmi told Lowe that Rae Sremmurd is already working on Sremm 4.

“We could put together solid album right now,” Jxmmi said when asked about Sremm 4’s progress. “But, of course, we want to keep cookin’ up new music […] We cooked up so many songs. Whatever didn’t make [SR3MMLife 3] was still hard as fuck.”

Young Thug, the Weeknd, Zoë Kravitz, Future, Juicy J, and Travis Scott are among the triple-disc's confirmed features.
