Mudbound actress and legendary singer Mary J. Blige spoke with the Associated Press about the topic on everyone's mind at this year's Golden Globes—the slew of sexual misconduct allegations being made in Hollywood over the last couple months.

Blige commended these women for speaking up and emphasized that they need to unite one another during this time by imposing an all-black attire on the red carpet. "I'm actually happy and proud of these women. I mean, it is their time," she said. "They've been hanging on to these things forever, for God knows how long, and now they're speaking up and being set free. It's a beautiful thing for us to see, and for us to support because we need each other in that way."

When the interviewer brought up Blige's past battles with instances of sexual harassment, the conversation got very real with the singer admitting that she's had to "fight" since the age of five. "Oh, I've had to fight since I was five years old," she said. "I haven’t had anybody approach me like that since I've been in the music business, but ever since from five to 17, I've been going through hell with sexual harassment."

When Blige made it the music industry, she followed a simple yet straight-forward approach. "So, you know, by the time I got to the music business it was like, 'Don't touch me or I’ll kill you.'"
