Last year, Ed Sheeran managed a Game of Thrones cameo, an Eminem duet and released what Nielsen declared 2017’s most popular album. Saturday, the English crooner revealed another tidbit from 2017 by confirming his engagement to his longtime girlfriend Cherry Seaborn.

“Got myself a fiancé just before new year. We are very happy and in love, and our cats are chuffed as well xx,” Sheeran wrote in the caption of an Instagram photo of himself and Seaborn showing each other some affection.

There was wide speculation that Seaborn and Sheeran were engaged after Russell Crowe leaked the news last year.

“[Ed] was on tour here, and he was getting a bit burned out,” Crowe said during a 2017 Facebook Live session. “He came up and stayed at the farm for a couple of days to get some sleep, and then we became conversational mates. He has subsequently gone back to the farm with his fiancée for more time.”

Seaborn and Sheeran reportedly met in school and took their relationship public later in 2015. The future Mrs. Sheeran is most known for helping England's U21 hockey team win the bronze medal at the 2012 European Championships.

Some Sheeran fans immediately took their excitement to Twitter.

We all knew she was the one. He took his shoes off for her ❤️😢 @edsheeran pic.twitter.com/H0B309T7tq
My only question.. now that Ed Sheeran is engaged, who's singing at his wedding? Because honestly all I want at my wedding is to have my first dance to an Ed Sheeran song... 👀
Ed sheeran is engaged!! Congrats! I'm just gonna sit over here and pretend I'm not jealous at all... not even a little bit... 😩

Although Sheeran did end up getting accidentally slashed in the face with a sword by a princess, Sheeran did have a pretty big 2017 thanks to the success of ÷, which totaled 2.764 million equivalent album units.
