Less than a week after the cause of Lil Peep's death was confirmed to be an overdose of Fentanyl and Xanax, the investigation into the rapper's tragic demise reportedly had another unfortunate milestone.

TMZ is reporting that the Drug Enforcement Administration is getting involved, apparently because Fentanyl was a factor. The DEA has been heavily involved in combating the nationwide opioid epidemic, and jumped into the investigation surrounding Prince's death last year because Fentanyl was involved there as well.

Cops are investigating a series of texts sent about Peep right before his death, some of which appear to be from a woman named Mariah Bons. "[Peep] high af because of me and my friend lol," one reads.

Lil Peep died last month, on one of the final scheduled dates of his Come Over When You're Sober Tour.
