Lil Peep tragically died from what a medical examiner believes to be a drug overdose of (possibly) fentanyl-laced drugs. While the story has been that Lil Peep took something and fell asleep for a while before being checked on, a new report says the Tuscon PD are now treating his death as a criminal investigation.

According to TMZpolice are questioning the private texts of a group chat (that appeared to be called "GAS Chat") involving a woman by the name of Mariah Bons, who is said to have been on the bus before Peep's passing.

The texts appear to have someone with the name Mariah saying, "He passed the fuck out my brother called and I tried to get him to say hi to my brother but he wouldn't wake up and so I had him talk to mackned." Someone responds, "Strange," followed by, "When peep sleep he wakes up easy." Another portion of the chat has Mariah again saying, "Bex was there I saw him but he disappeared before I could get a pic and I never saw coldy," followed a few hours later by "Gbc high af because of me and my friend lol." Mariah left the chat soon after.

For the record, "GBC" is refers to Goth Boi Clique, Lil Peep's crew, and it would appear that Mariah was insinuating that Peep was in the state he was in because she and a friend provided him with the drugs. Are these the supposed fentanyl-laced drugs? At this time, it's hard to say.

Fentanyl is currently known as the leading cause of overdose in the United States. For any questions, concerns, or assistance regarding drug overdoses, contact the CDC.
