Chance the Rapper’s bodyguard was arrested last week after he allegedly assaulted a man in a hotel lobby.

According to TMZ, 44-year-old Star Thomas was charged with simple misdemeanor battery following an altercation Thursday night at Chicago’s W Hotel. It all reportedly started when the alleged victim tried to get into the same elevator as Chance and members of his entourage. Sources said Thomas blocked the guy from entering at around 9 p.m. About two hours later, the man had another encounter with Chance and his crew in the hotel lobby, where he was allegedly body-slammed by Thomas. TMZ reports the incident, which was reportedly caught on surveillance, took place right in front of Chance.

Days after the bodyguard was booked, his lawyer Elias R. Hilal spoke to TMZ about his client’s arrest. Hilal insists Thomas never body-slammed the man, but did put his hands on him after their shoulders hit and the alleged victim began to mouth off. The attorney claims Thomas simply grabbed the man and did not throw him to the ground.

Just days after the altercation went down, Chance took the stage at Lollapalooza, where he was joined by Vic Mensa. The two performed “Cocoa Butter Kisses” from Chance's 2013 Acid Rap, as well as “Didn’t I (Say I Didn’t)” off Vic's recently released debut album The Autobiography
