Chicago artist Stan Sono comes through today with his anticipated debut single, "Rewind."
The warbling R&B track finds Sono wishing for that moment to turn time back, but it's really his vocals that anchor the guttural emotion of the song. Things come more into focus by the time the smooth hook comes around, begging you to feel what he feels.
"My music is a blend of contemporary and classic R&B," he told Complex over email. "But really it's a mesh of many different vibes. It's not confined or streamlined to fit in any one specific lane. It's created by what drives and inspires me in the moment. The emotions that are provoked...that's what creates the sound behind it."
The track is the first taste of the artist's debut EP that is due out next year. "The goal with this project is to give people a soundtrack they can listen to whether they're going through their highest or lowest points. This project has songs for different moods and emotions of wanting to go back to a specific time or thinking about what could be ahead. Most importantly the goal is to connect to the way the music makes you feel."
