Bobby Shmurda was present in a Manhattan court today, where he faced a judge in his ongoing drugs and weapons trial that stems from his arrest back in December with other members of the GS9 crew. According to Page Six, Shmurda's appearance this afternoon was with his new lawyer Alex Spiro, who works for the high-powered law firm, Brafman & Associates. It's currently unclear when Shmurda made another change with his legal team, but his former lawyer, Kenneth Montgomery, confirmed the switch.

During today's hearing, Judge James Burke set a new trial date of Feb. 22, while Spiro argued that his client should be released from jail in the meantime. However, Special Narcotics Prosecutor Nigel Farinha disagreed on the basis of Shmurda getting denied for bail four times already and because the state's case has reportedly only become stronger in recent months. Judge Burke ultimately denied the bail, which means Shmurda will remain in jail until his next trial date in February. Stay tuned for more details on this story as they become available.
