George Clinton has just released a surprise collaboration with Kendrick Lamar in the form of a trio of Louie Vega remixes of Funkadelic's new single, "Ain't That Funkin' Kinda Hard On You?" Clinton alluded to the collaboration, a follow-up to his appearance on "Wesley's Theory" from Lamar's To Pimp A Butterfly album, earlier this year. "I love everything on that album," Clinton told Red Bull of Lamar's last album. "I’m really proud of it...He just did something with me. It’s going to be on my album." He later said, "[Kendrick] came out to Tallahassee. He hung out. He’s coming up with his own thing. I could just feel him. A lot of people say, 'We want to save the funk. We want to play the funk. ' But I could tell his intention was positive."

The original version of "Ain't That Funkin' Kinda Hard On You?" appeared on Funkadelic's 2014 album First Ya Gotta Shake the Gate. Listen to the new Louie Vega remixes on iTunes here and stream an abbreviated version below.
