Kendrick Lamar reached a special milestone yesterday, when he was honored by the California State Senate and given the 35th "Generational Icon Award." The award, which was given to Kendrick by State Senator Isadore Hall, celebrated Kendrick's constant drive and efforts to fund and donate to the Compton school district and other various charities in his community. “Being from the city of Compton and knowing the parks that I played at and neighborhoods, I always thought how great the opportunity would be to give back to my community," Kendrick said on the Senate floor.
