On January 20 (his 20th birthday), Joey Bada$$ released his studio debut B4. DA. $$ that introduced his affinity for the golden age of hip-hop to a larger fanbase. Two months later, the Brooklyn rhymer has let the records on B4.DA.$$ soak in with his fans while he prepares for a big SXSW run next week in Austin. At the same time, he’s still constantly working on music, recently appearing alongside Houston’s Maxo Kream and UK singer/rapper Maverick Sabre. So it’s not unusual that Joey returns with a new tune produced by Flying Lotus.
Earlier on Thursday, Flying Lotus appeared on BBC Radio 1 for his residency where he curates a playlist for listeners. In this mix, he premiered new Thundercat and Lapalux cuts, as well as an unreleased Joey Bada$$ song called “Perception vs. Reality.” The gritty track doesn’t steer away from what Joey’s been doing, which is providing his fans with some pure, head-nodding lyricism. For Joey, things aren’t always what they seem in the concrete jungle. Listen to "Perception Vs. Reality" below.
UPDATE: It appears FlyLo didn't produce the record. It's actually Kirk Knight.
I didn't produce the @joeyBADASS 'perception vs reality' I just premiered it on my radio show.

Perception Vs. Reality was produced by @kirkknight not FlyLo.
