If you caught a Skrillex live set in 2014, you no doubt heard him ending his show with one of Toto's most popular songs, "Africa." He even ended his Jack U set with Diplo at the 2014 Ultra Music Festival with Toto's 1982 single. Why was he digging back into 1982 to finish his sets? When we asked him about it last year, he mentioned that it was a song that he remembers from his childhood, that "there’s always one of those records that I’ve been obsessed with lately that I like to play," and that he and Emoh Instead (who works with electronic phenom Flume as What So Not) made it their song.

While we're no strangers to the vast number of musicians that Skrillex has collaborated with, we were definitely surprised to hear from Toto that they were going to be collaborating with Skrillex and What So Not on something:

Going further, it looks like Skrillex and What So Not decided to take their love of "Africa" to the next level and actually reached out to Toto:

"It is VERY melodic and Joe and I sang and the band is very cool and Skrillex is a very nice guy and very creative as are the team "What So Not' It was a 'love fest' right away and we created something from a germ of an idea they had and it was a meeting of 2 generations.. NEVER would have thought it worked.. they called US and we went and ended up writing and recording a VERY cool piece. It will be interesting to see what they do with this. I love a new fresh challenge. We all walked away happy on both sides. Great experiment that worked. Dont worry.. Toto is NOT going dubstep haha It was fun session and we made some new friends."

Skrillex is a producer that operates in a constant state of production and collaboration, and with the highly-anticipated Jack U EP/mini-album on the way, we're not sure when this collab with Toto will drop, but it'll be interesting to see what they all came up with.
