Charli XCX Announces New Album, Drops "Break The Rules"

After a whirlwind summer, Charli XCX just announced via Buzzfeed that she will release her sophomore album titled Sucker on Oct. 21 via Neon Gold/Atlantic Records. With the announcement, she premiered her latest single, "Break The Rules," too—it's a carefree anthem about skipping school, partying and having fun. Sucker will serve as the follow-up to her 2013 debut, True Romance.

"The song is inspired by a lot of the things I was listening to whilst in Sweden at the end of last year," she told Buzzfeed. "I spent about a month making a punk record and covering songs by Swedish punk bands like Snuffed By The Yakuza and stuff. This song was written when I came out of the other side of that punk phase and translated it into something more pop. Obviously, it’s about not giving a fuck."

Her last single, “Boom Clap," which was off the Fault In Our Stars OST will also appear on her sophomore album. Stream "Break The Rules" below:
