It's crazy to think, but ZHU has not only had an unquestionably breakout year in 2014, but he's also become one of the most remixed. Jersey's own Bender joins a long list of remixers this week and throws his hat into the ring with his take on "Cocaine Model." Now thankfully, it's not another "Faded" remix. I seriously can't deal with that song anymore beyond the Odesza remix, the Lido remix, and the TCHES remix. Beyond that, and all the shitty unofficial remixes, and I'm just over it right now. That's not to say I don't like Zhu–I do, quite a lot–but these thirsty remixes are just that, and no one likes dehydration.
Bender's remix is a breath of fresh air in some ways. Mostly because it's actually dope. The track opens with some deeper, progressive, Anjuna-esque vibes which I love and I think a big part of me would rather have heard Bender keep it deep and follow with the vibe he established through the rest of the track, but this is still dope. It's towing the line between actual deep and old school progressive vibes, and this newer, more commercially ready style of deep house. In that sense, it's really just a matter of personal preference. I like it either way.
