It’s Friday so it must be quitting time, right? Well if you’re an android like us, it’s not ever time to quit–that is unless you’ve found a beat to groove to and you need to stop whatever it is you’re doing and just move. That said, being that it’s Friday and it’s been quite a long week and I plan on turning up tonight, turning down a bit and slowing my roll is definitely on the agenda for the afternoon. Kaytranada is helping me do that with his new flip of Chet Faker’s “Talk Is Cheap.” Now I’m already in love with the original track and Ta-Ku laced us with his own version earlier this week, so this one had to be different enough to catch us. With jazzy breaks and a seeping low-end to fill this out, Kaytranada brings trippy late night disco funk vibes spaced out with eerie vocal work to make this just work. Is this the bright bounce of his Janet Jackson or AlunaGeorge flips? Nah. Is this the indie goodness of the original? Not quite. It's something of a mix between the two and the result is just smooth. No one on the official drop on this but enjoy it for now via stream.
