A common criticism against "conscious" hip-hop is that it often comes off as preachy or pretentious. Not the case for the Toronto trio Naturally Born Strangers in their new song, "Drugs." Tona, Adam Bomb, and Rich Kidd combine forces to talk about the damage drugs can do physically and mentally. But this isn't an ultimatum to check into rehab; instead, it's an introspective, contemplative look into why drug usage is so rampant despite its obvious negative consequences. None of the rappers claim to have the answers. "Only poppin pills 'cause my pockets empty/Pockets only empty 'cause I'm popping pills."
