The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) has officially certified Kanye West's Yeezus as a platinum album. This certifications means that Kanye's latest solo album, which came out June 18, has shipped over one million copies. While Yeezus hasn't technically sold one million, it still means all seven of his solo albums have been certified platinum to date. Meanwhile, Kanye will continue his Yeezus tour in February, and is rumored to be wrapping up a new album which might be coming out soon.
Yeezus came out the same day as J. Cole's Born Sinner and Mac Miller's Watching Movies With The Sound Off. While Yeezus topped the charts after the first week of sales, Born Sinner surpassed Yeezus shortly after, topping the charts three weeks later. By September 19, 2013, Born Sinnerhad sold 599,000 copies, compared to Yeezus' 537,000 copies.
Congratulations to @kanyewest on his 7th @RIAA #Platinum album award for ‘Yeezus” – he’s 7 for 7! W @DefJamRecords
