Arsenio Hall was recently asked about Kanye West's comments about possibly losing his position the way Arsenio was allegedly fired from his late night television show back in the day. "As usual, Kanye's premise confuses the facts," Arsenio said, "So then therefore, everything else had to be thrown out." The comedian would go on to say that he feels both Kanye and himself take each other a "little too seriously," and clarified that he was never fired from The Arsenio Hall Show, choosing instead to quit. Arsenio said that racism had nothing to do with it.
Arsenio would go on to say:
"I hate the word 'slave' used in songs. The fuck outta here. Do you know what that word is? Do you know what that word is all about? Nobody can use the word 'slave' in pop culture. If you're in the music business, you shouldn't fuck with that word. Too serious an era. Too serious a problem in America. Do you know what it meant to slaves?"
