We recently named Chicago rapper ZMoney to our list of 25 new rappers to watch out for. The rapper is from Chicago's West Side, another area of the city from South Siders like Chief Keef and Chance The Rapper. The West Side has its own culture, although there is some overlap in the slang and style. (Even Chance The Rapper's DJ, DJ Oreo, grew up with ZMoney.)
ZMoney's first big look came when Chance The Rapper used his song "Want My Money" in the trailer for Acid Rap. Since that time, ZMoney's profile has continued to grow. His style is reminiscient of rappers like The Big Tymers, who were less concerned with lyrical fluency than great beats, hooks, and low-brow jokes.
"Slow Me Down," which is now receiving a video as his buzz continues a slow burn, was the lead-off track from this year's Heroin Muzik, released the same day as Rich B4 Rap. The video is directed by Will Hoopes, and the beat is by 808 On Da Track.
