TMZ is reporting that Chris Brown has been arrested on felony assault charges in Washington D.C. Brown is believed to have attacked a man outside of the W Hotel on K and 15 Streets around 4:30 AM. The altercation appears to have been triggered by two men trying to get themselves into a picture Brown was taking with two female fans. Brown is reportedly still in custody, while the victim has been hospitalized.

Brown is still on probation for his 2009 assault of then-girlfriend Rihanna. Prosecutors in Los Angeles had previously tried to revoke his probation earlier this year after he had been accused of a hit-and-run, but when that case was dismissed, his probation was reinstated and he was given no jail time. If these charges are substantiated, he will likely not be quite as lucky.

Meanwhile, Brown has been getting ready to release what is supposed to be his final studio album, X. The album was supposed to be coming out November 19.

UPDATE: Brown is believed to still be in custody, and is awaiting a bail hearing at some point today. Brown's accuser is claiming that his nose was broken in the altercation, and that he will be pressing charges.

Meanwhile, there has been some confusion in the police reports regarding who threw the first punch in this melee. The first report stated that Brown's bodyguard, who is also in custody, threw the punch, but a corrected report states that it was Brown who struck first.

UPDATE: According to TMZ, Chris Brown's charge has been reduced from felony to misdemeanor assault, which he gave a not guilty plea to. He has since been released without bail and has been ordered to stay 100 yards away from the individual who claims the 24-year-old singer attacked him. While initial reports stated the victim's nose was broken in the attack, that is not the case as he only suffered minor injuries. Brown's bodyguard has also had his assault charge reduced from felony to a misdemeanor.
