Rapper Lil Durk was arrested Wednesday after throwing a loaded .40 caliber handgun into his car when police approached him on South Green Street in Chicago. Police recovered the weapon.

Durk, whose real name is Durk Banks, was charged with unlawful use of a weapon by a felon.

In October 2011, he was pulled over drinking in a car, and a gun with a defaced serial number was found in his vehicle. At that time, he was sentenced to jail time for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, the same crime his GBE counterpart Chief Keef would be charged with just two months later. At the time, he pleaded guilty, and was released from jail July 27, 2012.

While Keef has had some dalliances with the law (he was arrested for speeding and marijuana possession most recently), Durk has mostly stayed out of trouble. He's been working on his debut album for Def Jam Records, the label he signed with in 2012. He's received considerable attention for the album's lead single, "Dis Ain't What You Want."
