Gavin Purcell, a producer on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, tweeted earlier today that The Roots' fourth studio album, Things Fall Apart has finally gone platinum. The album was released on Feb. 23, 1999.

The album was the first of The Roots' to sell over 500,000 copies, and was nominated for Best Rap Album at the Grammys in 2000. "You Got Me" won the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group. The platinum status is well deserved. Things Fall Apart and 2002's Phrenology are both certified gold, as well.
