Funkmaster Flex stopped by the Complex office last week and blessed us with some sounds from his upcoming mixtape, Who You Mad At? Me Or Yourself? Flex is always advocating a return to hip-hop's grittier, boom bap origins, and this new release hits that mark exactly.

We saw the zone he got Action Bronson in for their recent release, "Live From Kissena Blvd," and there's a similar chemistry in the collabs with other artists on the tape. Records from the The LOX and Childish Gambino exist in the same grimy atmosphere. A$AP Rocky gets ambient and J. Cole gets introspective right before Uncle Murda and Maino take the project back to the streets. There's a lot of different ideas and perspectives on the mixtape, and Flex effectively encompasses them all and molds his own vision of contemporary hip-hop.

One record that especially stands out is "Love to a Diplomat," a new joint effort from Cam'ron and Lil Wayne. It takes you back to a time in the mid-2000s when Weezy was actually claiming Dipset and churned out classics like "Suck It or Not" alongside Killa. We're long removed from that era, but the duo's creative connection is still intact.

And stay tuned because Funk Flex will be executive producing a 5-track Dipset EP this summer. Listen to their new track from Flex's tape below.
