In between playing Letterman and doing a double-set at Roseland Ballroom, Kendrick Lamar sat down with Miss Info for a little chat. When asked about his future efforts, KL surprised his interviewer by admitting that he has in fact not started working on a good kid, m.A.A.d city follow-up.
As he explains, he’ll return to the studio when a “moment of inspiration” strikes but in the meantime,
“I don’t want to force things, I still want to live in this moment. My biggest mistake is just not living in the moment and understanding everything that’s going on… I’m just trying to live in the moment… before I go back to the studio and find a new experience and a new inspiration and jump in.” After that, Kendrick started talking about the state of the game, citing Joey Bada$ as one of his modern favorites because “he ain’t afraid to be himself.”
Hip-hop as a whole, he admits “is going back to that mode where people are actually challenging themselves and taking it back to the origins and the essence of it.” Watch that interview up above.
