According to Ty himself, the titular similarity between this song's sample sources—Zedd's remix of Skrillex's Doors remix "Breakin' a Sweat" and Mint Condition's "Breakin' My Heart (Pretty Brown Eyes)"—is a complete coincidence. But it helps make a case, furthered by the beat's perfect synergy, that these two samples were meant to be.

Ty Dolla $ign's Beach House mixtape found the longtime producer and R&B singer—he wrote and produced YG's crossover smash "Toot It & Boot It" back in 2009—honing his own particular sound, and "My Cabana" is the tape's strongest moment among fierce competition.

It's an irreverent, unserious song; its lyrics seem sourced from a night goofing off with friends, rather than days spent scribbling on a notepad, to the song's great benefit. Its crass objectification of women is over-the-top by necessity. The urgent sincerity of its hook, where Ty cries out in seeming existential angst about the number of hoes that can fit in his cabana, is both comedic, instantly memorable, and, in its committed anguish, strangely moving.
