Despite good kid, m.A.A.D. city being hailed as an instant classic, the best song that Kendrick Lamar released this year didn't even make the album. Sample clearance issues prevented "Cartoon & Cereal" from getting proper placement on Lamar's major label debut, but no matter what, there's no way a record as innovative as this one would soon be forgotten.

The dark, airy production sets the tone right away and Kendrick's voice manipulation only makes things more eerie before the song takes us channel surfing and Gunplay drops a career-defining cameo. Saturday morning cartoons never sounded so sinister. -IA
