Yelawolf's major-label debut has been a long time coming but it was well worth the wait. Coming off his classic Trunk Muzik mixtape the Alabama MC got down with Eminem's Shady Records camp so expectations were at an all-time high. But Catfish Billy thrives under pressure. Find out how he created a classic as Yela, his producers, and the album's guest break it all down, track by track. Plus, Yela explains how Marshall influenced the album, how he got connected with Kid Rock, and how he was having sex when he was 7 years old.
As told to Insanul Ahmed (@Incilin) & Keenan Higgins (@HIGzILLMATIC)

HA HA HA HA. Anyone else see the irony of Machine Gun Kelly's HTC Rezound commercial being splashed all over this page? Also, for a guy who claims not to know anything about him, Yela sure do spend a lot of time talking sh*t about Machine Gun Kelly ("that fool"). Looks to me like Yelabelly wants a beef but he's too Yela to admit it. Too bad -- jealousy and schoolyard bullying is a bad look on a 32-year-old man.

^ Dude, I really don't want to argue over the Internet because that's childish (coming from a 15 year old boy) but seriously, hop off. This was about the process Yelawolf went through to make his debut album, not any beef with mgk. And I like mgk, it's not like I'm trying to argue over who is better or worse. I'm saying it doesn't matter...especially not on this article. But anyway this was great, seeing what Yelawolf hand to say about each song really made me appreciate the album more. It's a great album by the way

Actually Tom, I mostly agree. I think that Yealawolf is a very talented artist. He is not necessarily my cup of tea, but that probably has more to do with my age and background then it does with his skills. He has said elsewhere that people "either like a certain artist or they don't" (talking about his Mom and Bob Dylan, who I love (I mean Dylan, I don't know Y's mom :)). Yela just doesn't work for me, maybe because he is *too* successful at evoking the single-wide meth-lab life. Not a place I want to visit, even through song. Anyway, it is a well-written and interesting article. And the album is also well-written (produce etc.), just not for me. BUT (and here I go), I really am sick of this grown man (backed by Shady) picking on a kid. I don't believe Yela when he says he wasn't calling out MGK, and I don't respect the fact that he continues to surreptitiously take shots ("that fool") even after the alleged "beef" was put to rest. Either own it, or don't. If you want a beef with some mythical-in-your-head-"young"-"white rappers" then say their names. If he's going to leave us to speculate, then we are going to speculate. Bottom line, I'd like to respect Yela even if I am not crazy about his music, but every da*n time Yela opens his arrogant mouth I like him less. Lonnnnnng answer, but it is how I feel.

p.s. for Yela to "compliment" Kelly on the fact that people might think that Yela was talking about MGK was the height of arrogance. Yela has been signed for roughly twice the time as Machine Gun Kelly, and Yela is signed to the biggest rapper in the industry. Despite that, after a year, Yela only has roughly 100,000 more social network friends than MGK, and in this world that is a negligible difference. Yela's all proud because the biggest thug in the industry is behind him, but he should be watching his back in terms of fan base. #justsaying (P.S. I sound like a Yealawolf hater and I am not. Music, good, attitude, lousy).

Who gives a fuck about MGK? he fucking sucks and there was no beef @Breezy1886 and MGK also stated that "the the beef was over," so again hes a pussy and didn't want yela and Em to to diss his ass. Because we all know Em would have MGK's feelings hurt. Anyways, Bad ass album KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK YELA!! REP THE SOUTH!!

MGK and Yelawolf are NOTHING alike except both are white. And honestly in this day and time people need to forget what the fuck race is or stop complaining because equality is here. The people who think it is not are very ignorant and need to let go of their previous beliefs and embrace the present. If there is such a f**king debate on who is better or "harder" yelawolf or MGK. Yela is an easy win, but I say have the F**kers fight it out. I got money on Yela cus MGK is a skinny little bitch who always looks scared.
